The Aesthetics of Repair: Black Love Matters9-Margaret

Margaret | Fabric, paper, doily, oil and acrylic paint, blue brocade, photo jell transfer on canvas. 76"wx87"h, 2015

This work is a “portrait” of my mother and initially did not engage any of the elements of stenciling; or cutting, tearing and gluing fabric and paper to canvas. This is also one of the first paintings where I experimented with photo transfers.
