In some ways, The Aesthetics of Repair: Black Love Matters5-Kirby, represents a harder lean towards stenciling. More than the other paintings in this series, this work is defined by the repetition of the walking figure, stepping up an intended “beat” or rhythm of lines. A web of multi-colored intersecting marks bind many of the shapes and lines, and create surface texture.
