Backyard | Paper, paint markers, oil and acrylic paint on canvas. 92"wx80.5"h, 2014

Backyard provides a glimpse into a summer evening after the yard work is completed for the day. It shows my father (center), brothers and friend relaxing with beers and conversation in a field of Irises. This is one of the first works where I used paint markers to create surface texture. It’s also one of the first paintings that included the process of gluing and cutting paper.
